From Dwight Dovel: Greetings All: Most of you are aware, the 75th OVI will be hosting the Battle of Bowlegs Creek, in 2016. There are many things we hope to accomplish by our involvement with this event,….. primarily to raise the quality of the reenactment through better use of the terrain, better communication and organization, and by including all the reenacting impressions. The reenactment site is located in a beautiful Oak hammock, right on the …Pease River. The camps, and battlefield are all shaded, which certainly help in keeping it cool for the soldiers.
Every reenactment we have the participation of Navy and Marines reenactors, however, they seldom, if ever, get to demonstrate their impressions. With the close proximity of the River, we want to do a Naval Landing and Skirmish. The USS Fort Henry has expressed an interest, and I will do everything I can to make this a success. One of the biggest drawback right now, is the need for a Landing Skiff. I have included a photo of one I think would be perfect, however, it’s in NJ. Navy guys…tell me what you think….
